Immune System Definition
The immune system is a biological mechanism that plays an role of protecting the body against foreign invaders such as diseases and viruses. The way the immune system protects the body from foreign invaders is through a series of steps called the immune response.
It is made up of a connected network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body. One of the important cells involved are white blood cells, also called leukocytes. Leakocytes come in two basic types. These two types combine to seek out and destroy disease-causing organisms & harmful substances.
